it is really called the trinity celtic knot quilt. but, since my favorite celtic knot is a trinity knot, and this quilt is nothing like the shape of that, i re-named this pattern for myself because it is so true of a marriage--a man, a woman, and God. that cord of three strands is not easily broken.
this pattern was amazing when deborah sent it to me as an excel sheet. it was fun to do the mystery here just based on that one piece of paper she e-mailed me. THEN, it got better...she had it published in an australian magazine--way cool! and, streamlined of course from my clumsy attempts at the mystery here, but many beautiful quilts were made from here.....and even MORE round the world from the magazine.
it gets even better!!! Deborah's pattern has been re-released in a NEW format. it is supposed to be EASIER and FASTER with great graphics and directions and.....IT IS STRIP PIECED!!! using FQ's......cheryl willis worked with me when i did my sew along, she was a tester for the new technique for the re-release and she is doing a knot a long with her quilting group and has opened a blog for others to work along with them and to share their work too.....here is the link to that new blog:

she is gonna post tonight on what her group did tonite at their meeting. i have the new pattern and have decided on brown and tan and red with a WOW background fabric. this one will be for patience and ray for their wedding--better get crack-a-lackin on it since the wedding is exactly one month from today. gonna go start cutting the strips in just a bit!!!

you can do it, it is interesting that we can do something by ourselves but when we teach/share it with others it takes on a whole new life.
Nice thing about a wedding quilt is that they won't notice if you gift it after the honeymoon- lol
be good cw
got it all cut out today PLUS what i think will be enough for a 21 square---or was it 23? of the middle. i want to use that for a baby quilt that will match the wedding one.....yeah i know, crazy.....
Hi Lynne, I wishto thank you for sharing the pattern of the cord of three strands. I have pieced two of them. I have quite enjoyed doing this piecing. I was trying to find an email address to email you privately but I did not see one. One of the quilts I pieced I did for my church women's group, They have quilted it and now I am sewing on the binding. It is to be used to raise funds for the world relief organization, Mennonite Central Committee. You may have heard of this organization, if not you can google MCC.org. and check out what they do. I plan to but a label on it and I was wondering what information I should include regarding the designer and your part in sharing this pattern. I do want to do it right and give the right people credit. The quilt will be sold by auction the last saturday in May at the New Hamburg Relief Sale and you can google that as well to learn more about what happens there. Everything there is donated. It really is an amazing event. If you can let me know soon as possible that would be wonderful. Thank you so much.
