being a bad grandma.....

silas caleb fell born 2/27/09, at 4:31 p.m., little s.c. (they are HUGE USC fans) with his first out of womb gift from his papa (grandpa crowley-who is a packers fan!) jenna and matt brought the ball to the hospital with them, it rode proudly in the carseat....funny thing about that carseat....i'll try to remember to post about it at the end, but here is the story of silas' arrival.....

most grandmothers would have posted 1 minute after the arrival of a new grandchild. silas has been here for nearly 2 weeeks and i still have not posted.....i have a million times in my mind, but not here in reality....i guess i am just a bad grandma.so...here goes....i guess it was just working out the words, and the pictures....decisions, decisions, and ya know, sometimes, my brain just does NOT want to make any more decisions....so, it doesn't. then, things, important things, don't get done......

our jenna went to be induced on friday, february 27th. she was 8 days overdue. she went in at 8:30 am, and was already 4 cm. dialated and contracting already anyway....they did their admitting stuff and got her all hooked up to everything and finally started the pitocin about 11:00-ish to get things moving a bit more.......

a while later they break her water and she gets her epidural, even though she has no real pain...just in the event that there is gonna be some later, she wants to be ready for it LOL

they check her again, and she is a whole whopping 5 cm now.....so, matt and his dad, mike, go to get some food. they are gone for just a bit, and cathy (matt's mom) comes running out of jenna's room out to me in the waiting room to tell me that something is wrong and that they are taking jenna NOW for an emergency c-section and for me to get back there....she had shea call matt and tell him to get back NOW!~the baby's heartrate had dropped from 150's to 80's and jenna was bleeding alot......

so, i run back there, they won't let me in her room but are HURRYING to get her back into the operating room. then i get to see her as she is being wheeled away....they tell me where to bring matt when he gets there...but that they probably have to knock her out and that he will probably not be allowed in.i run out to the waiting room to tell everyone out there, and to get matt who just pulls up to the hospital....we run back in, he gets to go in afterall because she had had her epidural already and they just jacked it up a bit, and they had gotten the heartrate up a bit...so, matt gets in, sits down and says he is there and the next thing he hears is oh my gosh, he's huge! from the time of the crisis to delivery was only 4 minutes--they were amazing!

yep, he was 10 lbs. 9 oz......22 inches long and boy howdy did he howl! i had ran back to get the camera from the waiting room and to tell them that matt got to go in, then, ran it back to matt and he took some amazing pictures in the operating room.....

jenna was soooo calm thru it all. the doctors said it made it so much easier not having to deal with a hysterical mother wanting her husband etc....she just calmly dealt with it. she said it was weird, just like ok....and a peace that passes all understanding....God was amazing, of course she had her epidural already, even though she had not needed it--she was ready for the surgery! the reason that she crashed was because the placenta had seperated from the uterus.....but, evin if there had not been that emergency, she would have had to have a c-section anyway with silas being so large and all.....

he could not even wear newborn diapers LOL they had to go find him some size 1's in pediatrics LOL and he wears size 3 month clothes already....he is an amazing little guy, and his mama and daddy sure are amazing as well.

it was so neat to see matthew so in love with his wife and new baby. it was so evident to us how torn he was to being with silas and wondering and worrying about jenna while she was in recovery.....

I finally thought of taking her the camera so that she could see some pictures of silas......i remember when i had j.k. and he got whisked off to the NICU and i had only seen a blurry baby being whisked off....it was a lonely and worrisome time for me.....so, i went to go give her the camera and actually got to stay with her then til she got moved to her room...that was nice--getting to be mom to her for a bit....

matthew was so releived when she got to her room and the 3 of them got to be together.....a precious little family....

(sorry this isn't the best picture of you jenna, but then, you have been thru ALOT!!!)

when they were going home, they had to undo and re-thread all the strapping for the carseat harness because silas was so big that he did not fit with it done for a little newborn....or a football.

so, here he is at about 8 days old.

i don't think it is evident how much matthew loves this baby is it??? what a good little daddy he makes. jenna had still not even changed a single one of his diapers yet when he was 4 days old--matt had done them all :o)

good grandma, good grandma.....finally got this posted about....he is such a blessing. i can not wait to see him this weekend. they are coming saturday and will take him to church to show him off! hip hip hooray!

Wow! Thanks for posting about your new grandson, Mat sure does look like he is very happy. I wish I could come to church this week to see everyone, but I have obligations at my church.
All my love and prayers to the new family and all the new grandparents.
