so.....where have i been lately??? in my new house, madly painting away....the end is not in sight yet, but it IS getting closer. here is what has been happening......
we were happy to get our keys on wednesday, the day before thanksgiving. it was exciting for kevin to beable to get the keys out of the lockbox, and to open the house for the first time. rhiannon and her family were there as were all the kids that live at home. we poured some champagne and apple cider and had a toast and a dedication prayer of our new house that it would be blessed and used by God for His purposes.....then
we moved over the smoker (for the turkey) a couch (so they had somewhere to sit) the t.v. and wii (so they would have something to do while smoking the turkey) and the dining room table and chairs.....a few pots and pans, some dishes to eat off of and called it good.....some of the kids, j.k. and his girlfriend amy stayed over and smoked the turkey.
rhiannon and steven moved their stuff in wednesday to the big room that was going be my sewing/wii room.....now she and her family live in there. they got their stuff in on wednesday and all set up.....
jenna, matt, silas and shea came up and daniel and marissa came on thursday so the whole family was there for our first thanksgiving dinner in our new home. that was WONDERFUL!!!
it was nice to meet amy. it was brave of her to come to a house that had no heat-- or anything for that matter! she baked yummy bread and pies and brought them with her. she is really nice and i think good for j.k. and he better be good to her because she is a keeper!
so....thanksgiving was grand....no black friday shopping...more moving. and cleaning, and painting, and moving.....and cleaning, and painting....our bedroom ceiling got scraped of the popcorn and refinished by a fantastic guy named rob that marissa told us about....he is wonderful!!! i got to paint my bedroom and nearly finished it yesterday. kevin and i have been sleeping over at the old house (which has been kind of nice actually, except it is freezing coz there is no heat there) but will hopefully get to move our bedroom stuff over this weekend....then we will all be sleeping under the one roof :o)
the girls did great jobs at painting their own rooms. patience and randi have a black, white and a berry pink room. siobhan and providence have a room with 2 lime green walls, a bright pink one, and the other is a bright purple....looks GREAT!!! the boys are disappointed i think that their room is gonna be done by me the same colors as the rest of the house--light and medium brown. they are getting new curtains though.....and a desk in their room. tadhgain especially needs it since he is home schooled now.....oh yeah....that is taking up tremendous amounts of time too.....yep....yep it is. math is NOT his favorite.
i LOVE my new house...i wish i was all the way out of my old one. it has just been so cold and windy with the snow day thrown in with all 10 kids home....hard to get much done. but, i plug away. hopefully we will get some boxes dealt with and unpack some more. i have 2 pieces of furniture i want to paint still before i can put lots of the stuff on/in them to beable to get rid of several of the boxes.....sooooo hard to decide where to put things in this new house for some reason.
there is ALOT of sewing room junk to sort thru and pack up for storage. hard for me to decide what is going to stay out and where i am going to put it. i have been procrastinating on working in that room, as well as my bedroom--it is such a mess that i just don't even want to deal with it....i would rather just junk it all--my bedroom stuff--other than the furniture of course--not the sewing stuff, THAT i will have to go thru LOL
it will be nice to get some pictures out of the camera and onto the blog--i especially want to post a picture of a CUTE little ornament that one of my online friends sent to me as a housewarming for my first christmas in my new house....it was my first actual piece of mail even! a CUTE little pinwheel quilt block....
ok...time for a bit more math with tadhg before the rest of the clan get home and distract him.....

Congratulations!
But where will your sewing room be?
I hope you have many happy, healthy years there in your new cozy home.
Happy sewing,
i am working on figuring that one out kim LOL i will take over a part of the living room, but how or where still has me stumped. i know that eventually, several years from now, i will get one of the bedrooms when the kids move out. or, when rhiannon and her family move after a year perhaps i will get the big room back....but, for now, i will use a bit of the living room. i just need to decide on how to set it up without it looking too horrible. i never want to have the giant mess that i did in the other house.....i think i will go sit in that room for a bit so it can speak to me and tell me where it wants things to go....i am stumped right now. i need inspiration....
I 'feel' like I have been moving but we are staying in our same house. We are getting a few of hubbys mom's dressers and stuff that no one else wanted. Most is going into my sewing area or the grandkids play room but one still has to move a ton of stuff to make room. Take you time and do it the way that it will work for you. cw
I just now found your blog and the Celtic Knot Mystery. I have gone through the clues to figure out how many squares of each color, and now I just have to decide what size.....it looks like a fun project. I hpe you get settled in soon and come back to blogging. Thanks for the pattern, I'll send a picture when it is done.
