18...what a magical age to turn. you are now officially an adult! patience has seemed like an adult for so long anyway, but now it is official! she has waited for this day for a long time--anyway, now there are no restrictions on her work schedule, but i am sure that she really has no interest in opening or closing....she is taking 20 units of college this semester and is pretty thrilled that this will be her last semester at VVC and will be transferring down to Cal State San Bernardino....you know what i think of when i think of patience? responsible, and hard working,....and generous. i think i talk with her the most, we go on dates and always have a really nice time....she is now dating a nice guy named ray, and i am glad.....i am happy that he seems to be built of better character (than someone whom shall remain nameless from the past) and i am pleased that he is part of her life. i am happy for her--she deserves a good person, she is a good person. i am really proud to have her for my daughter.
daniel and patience at her high school graduation
wow...30....daniel is actually having a bit of a hard time with that number. and, if the truth be told, it does make me feel a bit older. funny, i never had a hard time with any of the "big" ones...afterall, with age comes wisdom right? and, another birthday beats the alternative right? i mean, if you are not having a birthday, you are then dead....now, dead wouldn't be so bad, since i would then be in heaven, and wouldn't THAT be nice, but.....anyway, daniel is having a bit of a time with turning 30. i believe, well, because he told me so, that it is because he feels that he should be further ahead than he is--that he should have more to show for his 30 years here.....be more settled, more job secure and further in a career....but, then he did do 6 years in the air force, and he is married to a wonderful woman...he works, has insurance, a car, pays his bills (and taxes!) and is an asset to society. he is an extremely good photographer and has traveled to ireland....he is a great person with great wit and humor, grand to have conversations with and an excellent son....one that i am very proud of....30 years of being priviledged to be his mother....
on the day that daniel turned 6, jenna came along.....daniel has always said that she ruined his birthday, but if the truth be told, i believe that he actually REALLY loves sharing the day with her. they have always had a special and good relationship and seem to be kindred spirits...they are similar in many ways, but also VERY different.
jenna was born grown up. she was always so nurturing to the other kids. she was always sure of herself, atleast she protrayed herself as such even if she wasn't on the inside. she was a kind and obedient, teachable child and as such she reaped the benefits of that behavior. you always knew that jenna was going to make the right decisions and do the right thing, she had our complete trust always....what a delightful child that God gave us.....she is the best little mother to silas and wife to matthew, sister to her siblings, and daughter to us....we have been blessed beyond measure for having her in our lives for the past 24 years.
we are going to celebrate birthdays tonight at cheesecake factory in rancho cucamonga--can't wait! my mom gets to be there too, so that will be really nice!--

I too share my birthday with a sibling, my brother was born on MY 3rd birthday! The bad thing was we had to trade off on who got to pick the kind of birthday cake Mom would make us! Since, she was a single mom, we only had 1 birthday party, of course together, but it was at the local skating rink, so we had fun in spite of ourselves!! LOL
