i don't know how jenna got 3 quilts already when most of the family don't even have one yet :o) i do believe though that she would say that it is because she is the favored one LOL jenna is pretty wonderful i must admit.

she got the first quilt top that i ever made. it took me a very long time to sandwich and quilt it though. it commemorated her trip to hawaii with band that year. too bad i don't have a good picture of it ..... it is very bright pink hawaiian fabrics done in a simple rail fence....we took it to the store to get paint to match to paint her room--geez! that is a bright room!!! and the little boys now live in there--i think we need to re-paint in something a bit more masculine huh??

the second quilt, picture posted above, jenna and i made together. to get out of school in our district you have to do a senior project. you have to learn to do something new thru a mentor, and write learning logs about it, write a full paper and give an oral presentation.
jenna chose to learn to quilt. she chose me as her mentor......she chose the underground railroad by eleanor burns for her project. she did not even know how to thread a machine--she not only learned how to thread it, but also how to use it, and how to get an accurate 1/4 inch seam. she learned how to use the tools--rulers, rotary cutter (seam ripper too lol) etc.....how to pick, cut and organize her fabrics and how to make and set the blocks. we each made a quilt and she worked along side me on hers learning as she went. she then learned about quilting on the longarm machine by christi close and even got to stitch some of hers. she then did a binding by hand.....it is wonderful!!! of course, hers is finished and mine is still just a top :o) perhaps one day i will get mine finished.
her 3rd quilt, flip flops, was just for fun! i LOVE this fun little quilt. i traced one of my little boys flip flops for a template and gathered lots of brights and had a fun time. i loved doing the ribbon toe strappy things......so dimensional. turned out just as i had imagined it would in my minds eye--gotta love it when things work out :o) it is such a happy and bright quilt...little flip flop feet in the sand.
now, to get started on getting some of the others in the family a quilt or two finished!!!
