dorothy is having a hard time waiting til the first....

dorothy, i am gonna give you a little activity to keep you busy while you are waiting....and, anyone else who wants to get a little jump on the game....

you know that you are going to be sewing all of these bits together right? you know that you are going to be making 9 patches. you can see from the sneak peek pictures (see the posts for june 2nd and 4th i think) some of the chunks we are gonna be making that there will be lots of backgrounds sewn together. there will be lots of each color sewn to a background. there will be lots of each color sewn to itself. there will be lots of one color sewn to another.....

you could start sewing some 2 patches if you wanted. don't press them yet. you will want to do that when you are constructing your 9 patches for easier seam butting.

then when you got your graph --on the first of july dorothy, you could pick from your pile of 2 patches :o)

then, when you are done with your chunks for the week, you can continue using these squares for leaders/enders while doing other quilting and garment sewing (melodie) waiting for the next chunks to be posted the following wednesday......what a great way to make this quilt huh???

Exciting concept. I have too many irons in the fire to do it with you, but I'll keep up and download all your posts -- one question. My sister has requested a queen size. Would this pattern lend itself to that if I just make more blocks?

Thanks so much for sharing so generously with all of us!!

Also, as it happens, she'll be here in town in July to pick fabrics for her queen size quilt. Maybe I can keep up after all! Thanks again.

I am adding this to my poss. TO-DO.
if we are making 9x 9-patches per unit and a total of 25 units, then we should be able to make the original sq any size we like to get the finished size we desire. I am a 2 1/2" gal so that should produce 90(ish)" top.
Where as a 3" might get the over sized king of 120"-
Now to decided on colors and whether to scrappy or stash. Looks like fun, thanks for doing this. cw
