artsy craftsy postcards.....

in my postcard cottage group there was a swap for artsy-craftsy---not really a theme that i was too keen on, but, when i saw who was already signed up i ended up sticking my name in there too.....miriam from ireland and monica from spain do AMAZING work....i really like swapping with them, and monica has been out for a while and just back in swapping, so i REALLY wanted to swap with her......gee whiz!!! what did i do???? arts and crafts??? what the heck am i going to make???

what is the epitome of arts and crafts??? all i could think of was paste and popsicle sticks LOL

when i was a little girl and on a visit to my aunt janice and uncle gary's they took us to parks and rec and we did arts and crafts....i had a BLAST that day. we made mosaics out of glue and tiles....i also remember doing mosaics in school with tissue paper.....hhhmmmm, i could do that......only question is HOW???

so, here is tissue paper and glue stick...wow, that paper sticks to your fingers!!! perhaps just a dab to hold it in place, then i will go over it with glue/water.....oh crap! the tissue bleeds.....this is NOT what i had envisioned.....perhaps i should do it with fabric instead.....

ok.....so, fused fabric.......hhhhmmmm......i had better memories.....mosaics aren't all that much fun to try to fit together all those little bits.... maybe this will look better after i quilt it.....nope, not so much--and geez! grass, sun, sky?? all those bits??? lets simplify.....
sun and sky......gosh i hope all those little bits stay on there!!!
before they were quilted, trimmed and edged i was ready to throw them all out...they just did not equate to what i had envisioned in my mind--and i am sure they would not measure up to monica and miriam.....but forge ahead i did--i HAD to, these have to go out by saturday and there are no more fresh ideas for arts and crafts in my head......
quilt, edge, add rays to the one with grass coz i forgot them before...... wow, pressing the paper and glue one really makes a neat finish...hmmm, i think we are on to something! lets add the glue water to the fabric ones too to help hold on the bits....wow, they shaped up pretty nice.....i think i really like these now! they all have their little personality and i hope that they are well received......now, i just have to decide who gets which one.......
the moral of my story is--never give up--if at first you don't succeed, try and try again.....
