this ring is AMAZING!!! it is a wonderful natural opal with LOTS of color with a gorgeous setting in diamonds. the setting is really cool and vintage, the opal sets high so lots of light gets to get under it to really show off the colors. when i was young i wanted an opal ring very badly and it was on my christmas list for years and years. i finally got a wonderful one my senior year only to have it be stolen my first year of college.....i have wanted a new one ever since. kevin remembered that and did research on them (very meaningful!) and so for my 50th birthday i got this amazing ring :o) what an amazing husband--i am truly blessed.....
the day before my birthday the u.p.s. man came bringing me a little giftie from my friend christi--it had three skeins of this amazing yarn that is recycled silk saris from india. the ladies there use the saris to spin into this really cool, really colorful (the pictures do not do it justice!) funky yarn. i spent several hours on the internet searching for what others had made with their silk yarn--i decided on a simple little market bag purse......i am hoping that i will have enough left to make a great little skinny scarf too--it would be amazing!
my birthday mail also brought me a few fabric postcards.....below are two that are just amazing, and of course, the pictures just do not do them justice.....they are both made by the same lady, victoria from reading, pa. i am only posting the pics of these two coz they are of LEAVES!!! and they are incredible!!!
the first one is made from real leaves that are under organza and stitched with a copper metalic thread. it is edged with the same thread--see what i mean? the picture doesn't even show that the thread is metalic, but if you click on it and make it bigger you can see how really cool this card is and the great colors of the leaves and the thread--this card was sent as a special card in memory of my sister, and she wrote "keep your memories close to your heart" on it. what a very thoughtful thing for her to do......
