one of the quilts i worked on at missy's.....these little 9 patches are only 3 inch finished and are just as cute as can be....it was nice to get to work on the borders for a bit.....
lots going on since i am on my little trip. before i left though i had gotten a little package of Cream On Creams and White on Whites from GeeGee to use in my celtic knotwork. i forgot one of the FQ's at home, but brought the strips to cut into squares to be incorporated into my quilt....how happy is that to have part of GeeGee in my quilt? i think VERY happy indeed!
my dear friend christi has her birthday today. last year i had made her a bargello quilt. i think it is posted as one of the very first posts on my blog. right before my sister passed away. that was a really important part of my blogging life and really helped me to grieve for my sister and to pay tribute to her.....you can go way back in the day to the history part and see the quilts i made for them....i digress....what's new about that? LOL
so, for this year, i only did a cover for a composition book and some starbuck's mugs.....lazy in my old age huh? but, as soon as i saw the mugs, i KNEW they were her. i love the composition book cover and plan on making those for the teacher's gifties this year. they were from a tutorial on someone's blog--i will have to go find from where and post a link, coz i know ya all, and after you have seen how cool that is, you are gonna wanna make some for yourself for gifties huh??? and, right now is the time to go stock up on those composition books coz they are at staples and target for CHEAP!!!
and, for me, while on a trip to oregon, christi and her daughter went to a farmer's market and saw this woman spinning her wool into homespun yarn.

these gorgeous hanks of homespun will make something yummy, not sure what yet, but it is just the softest yarn ever.....she sells it in her etsy shop under the name of frolicnfibers go check her out!
yesterday, i got to go meet a quilty friend from one of my groups. she lives in sacramento, which is where christi lives, so while christi was at work i went to play with missy. she does some amazing work and she gave me a little quilt show and then we sat and sewed together in quiet companionship....it was really nice to meet her and her kids, and she also is a great designer and drew me out one of her quilts, but i can't show pictures of it yet coz i think she is gonna do it as a mystery in our group....it is REALLY amazing though!
