my round-a-week 2 weeks in...

tara kos is one of my favorite designers. she does amazing things with borders. she is leading a round-a-week (RAW) in my group one stitch at a time. she had us start with an 8 3/4 inch block on point. i did the applique and bordered it with the plaid....i have done that stitching twice already and am STILL not happy with it. the first time it was too dark, this time it is too light and blends in to the plaid...i will re-do it AGAIN, i think this time with a maroon. it does say "give thanks" around each side....week 2 was to bring it back to square with the triangles. i decided to continue the appliqued oak leaves and acorns. the top two have the blanket stitch done, need to finish the 3rd and 4th....i am looking forward to next week to see what we are going to do next....i do hope that she puts more areas for more applique. this will grow to be about 40 inches square and will grace my table eventually....

sure is nice to post about something other than the celtic knotwork bit....tomorrow will be an amazing day spent in the sun and pool with family and friends so that will really be fun to blog about :o)

Wow, I love this type of quilt. Is there a blog or someplace to follow along? I've been enjoying your Celtic Knot Mystery, also. Thanks for the fun!

mary,
thanks so much! :o)

it is from a yahoo group called one stitch at a time. i think it has to be the bes group ever. extremely active in offering great designs and activities---too many sometimes LOL impossible to keep up with everything that is offered, but it is so nice because not everything will appeal to everyone so there is alot of variety.

i think it is a closed group though at the moment....

tara kos is a really cool designer. we started with any kind of 8 3/4 inch block on point, then used a 7 1/2 inch square cut on diagonal for the corners to bring it to square. it will be squared up to 12 1/2 inches after i get done with the applique. i am looking forward to the next round where i can bring some more color back in to it.....there is alot of room for personalization of this project. i love applique so i know that i will get to do alot in it since i already know tara's style and that she will leave me some room to add my bits. but her piecing of the border rounds is always amazing as well....other people that don't like applique so much will start with a focus fabric or an orphan block or whatever they choose....lots of variety here.
