eireland has always been interested in what i am making. she always thinks it should be for her. since she always seems pleased with what i am making i decided that she needed to be the reicipient of the first sweater i made. i LOVE this pattern!!! i knew she would love it!!! i was right--she was thrilled with it. she dubbed it her “kindergarten sweater” and declared that she was going to wear it every day. i told her it was too hot. she brought it today to wear, but decided on a sweatshirt instead because she does not want to get this dirty. it was the reminder for me to get some pictures of her in it though…..
she and i went on a special outing to pick out the buttons—she got to choose them….i went with fingers crossed that she would pick the right ones, and she did! actually, she was thrilled with the outing, wore her sweater to the store in the over 100 degree heat…..finally i got it off of her so we could test the buttons. she picked the iridescent blue hearts out on her own, and they look like they were made especially with this sweater in mind. i LOVE the bottom edge of this sweater, and the sleeves have the same little ziggy-zaggy edge….easy peasy and adorable!!! i learned alot doing this sweater—and my older girls also loved it and decided that i needed to make them a sweater too—huge surprise there coz they usually don’t show much enthusiasm for anything i make….so, a teal one is on the needles now for arcadia, but it had hit a slow-down….. i need to quit quilting and hand applique-ing and get busy on her sweater since the cooler weather is going to be here before we know it.
one of the design elements that i fell in love with was the little ridge that seperated the bodice from the body of the sweater. it is what made me want to make the sweater in the first place. you can see it better if you open the picture by clicking on it….i learned ALOT making this and can’t wait to make more…..oh yeah…..right after i get that applique done…..

It is beautiful! Great job! You are right, those buttons look like they were made for that sweater.
