here is a picture of my chart for my tattoo quilt that i plotted out using karen combs book "celtic pieced illusions" that i am gonna be making on here--you can join me if you want, and if you buy your own book. but, by doing it here, i KNOW that i WILL get it done :o) don't really care how many people sew along with me, as long as there is atleast one following along, i will be happy. I will put another round of white around it and then bind it with the dark blue. my marker colors are not what i really the fabric colors that i want to use, especially the medium blue--too bright--and the light--too grey, but ti is nice to get it colored in. and, i am going to change the middle to make the yellow larger. this chart has morphed ALOT from the first time i charted it out--changing and perfecting it each time. i think that my change to the middle will finally make it exactly how i want it.
it doesn't match my tattoo exactly, but it is pretty darned close! and, my tat doesn't have the light blue bits going round it, but i thought that it finished the design for a quilt better. so, this is 16 by 16 square. i believe i will be using the 3 inch FINISHED block size for a wall hanging gift, and the 6 inch FINISHED size for a quit for ME to KEEP!!!
karen combs has given me permission to do this on my blog, but she has given me alot of restrictions because of her copyright. i respect that, and i request that you do too. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS QUILT WITHOUT BUYING YOUR OWN BOOK! I CAN NOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH. DO NOT TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS WITHOUT HER BOOK--DO NOT STEAL HER METHOD. her book has SOOOOO much good stuff in it in the way of teaching you theory and design.
if you have your book already read thru it and get familiar with her method. decide on your colors reading her great wealth of info on value and hue and pattern..... make your copies of your worksheets--the fabric calculations pages as well as the block. make several copies. i glued 4 of the grids together to glue down my little colored blocks.
i am going to decide how to post the needed blocks and the quantities of each this week.
you are going to be doing the BULK of the work on figuring out your own stuff (fabric amounts and cutting directions) for this quilt on your own. you will have the freedom to choose your size, colors, as well as the design of my chart...change it up however you want, it is YOUR quilt--but i think it is finally a perfect chart LOL.....i did tweak a couple of the blocks, so they are a variation of her connector block and will give you tips on how to make those, but they will be easy. otherwise, i don't really get to share much.....BUT WITH YOUR OWN BOOK, YOU WON'T NEED MY INPUT WILL YOU??? lol

I've ordered the book, Lynne, and will be sewing along!!! I LOVE it. I'm almost finished with my Celtic Knotwork and will post it when it's done.
