i named my celtic knotwork quilt...

it has a name....i don't normally name my quilts, but you know celtic knotwork sew-a-long just didn't seem to fit it....it was MUCH too special for that--especially for a wedding gift.....

so, what did i name it? I think it is the PERFECT name!!!! "Cord of Three Strands" is perfect --taking it from the verses in the bible, Ecclesiastes 4:8-12.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But, woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm and alone? though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken."
And, it makes a perfect wedding quilt...why???

Ecclesiastes 4:8-11 shows wonderfully how nice it is to be married. how wonderful it is to have 2 ...how nice it is to have someone there for you.....and the bible talks about how the two are then become one....woven together so to speak....still seperate entities, but ones that add to each other, and give each other strength.
and, in verse 12, it adds another strand-- "a cord of three strands is not quickly broken." so, what is the third strand of the cord?

God himself. we need God to fuse our relationship as we work, live and love in life. Yes, we need each other, but if God is not present in the formula, the strength of our ropecord is not there. That verse also says that God does not easily wish to break from us either. It is not up to us to try and keep Him in our three-strand rope. If we trust Him, He will always be there! and, our marriage will be stronger......Amazing! That is His amazing grace.

pretty cool huh? so....here we go, with this beautiful quilt, with its 2 cords--the purple and green--daniel and marissa, combining around the center black square--God.....then, going out and around with the strands intertwined....a cord of three strands, not easily broken, and as beautiful as can be. WAY TOO COOL HUH???
so, isn't that the PERFECT wedding quilt? i think so, and i am so glad that daniel and marissa were the recipients of this one........

The celtic knotwork came out beautifully!!!! Judie told me that you wanted to put it all in one file... have you thought about a PDF file? You can download an attachment from Microsoft for free. I would love to get a copy of it.

Hugs!

What a beautiful name for the quilt. The Biblical explanation just makes the quilt all the more special! Looking forward to finishing mine. Are we allowed to use the name for our quilt? I was thinking of Celtic Beauty but I like yours better. Maybe I could combine the two names if allowed. Thanks and have a great Labor Day Holiday!

When I created the original pattern for this quilt - it was to celebrate the truth that God is the third partner in marriage and the one that carriers the other two in times of difficulty. Isn't God amazing that you were able to see this in the quilt with out me saying anything
