WHEN YOU ARE DONE, IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS:
P8190004 no it shouldn’t. do you see the purple square in row 2 that does NOT belong there??? i only noticed it when i looked at the picture that i was posting……thinking—THAT purple square does not look like it belongs there…..it doesn’t follow the rhythm of the design…..even if you have not seen the quilt design in total, it just looks like it is out of place doesn’t it? that is why i am leaving that picture in, to show that even when you have the right graph, it is easy to make a mistake…..and, easy to fix…see??
P8190001-1 P8190002-1 P8190003-1 P8190004-1 then, just sew those 2 seams again, then press nicely and voila!
P8190006-1
much better right? the design looks like it is meant to….. so easy to make a mistake, so easy to fix while they are still in these manageable chunks…..i love chunky quilting :o)
i still love chunky quilting....and, as jean so nicely pointed out to me, my chunk is STILL wrong.
the chart is fine, just my placement....take a look at row two again.....still wrong! what i had originally done was flipped row two when sewing it to row one....the black was supposed to be at the left, but i stuck it at the right. if i had not just fixated on the purple being out of place i would have possibly seen this, but i just didn't. so, i did the above fix....now, it has row two completely removed, the purple back in place, and it is flipped with the black on the left instead of the right and all is well with my world...hopefully it is all right with your world too and i will be forgiven for my human-ness and boy howdy, by now, from reading so many of my posts and seeing so many transposed letters (you can't iamgine how many i fix before posting! LOL) so....of course the picture is STILL wrong, and i will not risk trying to fix it here, it will have to have it's own special place....geez!

The second row in chunk 19 is still wrong! The first block should be black, the forth block should be purple and the last block should be white in that row. At least according to your chart!

looking good, even with the typos, what's a little rip-it between peers. correct row two. I saw it before I looked at the chart- must be my brain figuring out the mystery.

I am staying up tonight to get caught up. thanks cw

since my little eye just fixated on the purple out of place, i just didn't even see that what the original problem was....i had flipped row two...i could have just taken row two off flipped it and put the black end where it belonged and then there would be the purple where it belonged....so, now row two is ripped off and the purple block is back where it belongs and the white one taken back out....and after church i will probably get it sewn back together....or tomorrow....after all, tomorrow is another day.....

and, cheryl, thank you for your good nature....i need it right about now :o)

I've finished chunks 18,19 and 20.
I can't wait to see more neighbors! I'm doing mine in blue, red, yellow and wow. I'm already thinking about doing it in other colors. Can't wait to see it finished! Thank you so much, Lynne.

WOW, this is looking great! I have a couple of questions, I am still cutting some of my fabric and a couple pieces are directional, so can I assume that the top of your chunk will go towards the top of the quilt or will some of the chunks be flipped? I don't want my little trees to be upside down, if you know what I mean.
My second question, You said the designer used red in her quilt, what other 2 colors did she use? Thanks for your help and thanks for posting this gorgeous quilt. Have a great week!

hi gee gee,

yes, you are right in orientation, the top left will always be the top left, so your trees will be firmly rooted in the ground if you do them with their branches towards the sky :o)

and, all my chunks are done, and most are sewn together into chunks--LOVE this chunky quilting....making giant 4 and 6 patches now, and then will join those together instead of 5 long rows...

when doborah first made this quilt she used scrappy reds and greens and blacks and her background was scrappy whites, but hers had prints on them as where i am just using scrappy white on whites. when i post the last post i will post her original graph so you will see G, R, and B instead of G, P, and B. she did not use a symbol for the background.

i have seen two of these finished now from the two people that got to help keep me in check, and let me tell you, this is just amazing when done.....you will all forgive any mistakes i made in charting when you see your masterpiece.

Thanks so much Lynne for your rapid response and don't be so hard on yourself. I am not intimidated by a little mistake, long time quilter experienced in frogging. :o)
Thanks for all the info and glad to know my trees will be grounded. Really wanted to use this fabric. it is a favorite.
Have a great day!
