clarifications and names....

first off, i want to clarify that while i did start smoking when i was 11, it was NOT with my parents permission or knowledge, and even though i smoked for 20 years, it has been 19 1/2 yrs since i quit praise the lord! i REALLY loved smoking. i loved it first thing in the morning, right after a meal, and then of course right after....ya know LOL i really enjoyed it. but i knew it was not good for me, or my kids, or my budget....so i decided that if God could give up his son for me, i could give up smoking for him....so i set a target date of valentines day as the day i would give it up.

i quit on february 13, 1990 at 10 pm. i went outside (we did not smoke in the house because of the kids and 2nd hand smoke) and it began to snow gently. we lived on a busy street, next to a street lamp. i walked the front yard looking up at the flakes swirling down in the beauty of the lamp light. there were no cars going by, it was a beautiful and peaceful gift from God. i never had the desire to smoke after that. i was just delivered from the addiction. i was pretty glad about that!!! kevin on the otherhand, did not have it so easy, and it took him a long while to quit too, but he finally did :o)

my second clarification is of my families names. most of them are irish or gaelic so who would even know how to pronounce them?? shea has all of our names tattooed on her arm.....click on the picture to see how cool it really is....

this is an awful picture of jenna right after silas was born in feb. but shows shea and her family names tattoo.....it has purple background that still needs to be finished, and the flowers are gonna be tinted pink when all is said and done with one flower having teal in honor of my sister ruth....

so, here we go....i am gonna put the first and middle names coz i think that the whole names are great together. i had alot of fun naming them all. all have the same last name--crowley

daniel thomas--i named him after the biblical men--such a combination of humanity...a man of such great faith and one that doubted, yet still believed....

rhiannon nicole-- (rhee-annon) kevin picked her name, from the fleetwood mac song. it was an extremely unique name back in the day, that was way before all the brianna's etc...

jenna maureen-- i wanted kathleen for the middle name, then she would have had the same intials as kevin (he goes by his middle name--well we thought he did!) but kevin did not want kathleen...but doesn't jenna kathleen sound just amazing?? so, i picked maureen instead. kevin's mom had twins that were 3 mo. premature and they were named brendan and maureen. so i named her in memorium of his sister.

john kevin II--funny thing....he is really j.k. crowley second of nothing because we found out that kevin is not really john kevin crowley but rather is kevin john crowley, so j.k. is the second to nothing since there is no j.k. crowley the first.....can you imagine that? me either! we found it out when we were trying to get kevin's birh certificate for his passport and could not come up with one under john kevin crowley, but ta-da when asking for kevin john crowley....why his mom always said his name was john kevin is beyond me--i mean, did she forget what she named her own kid???

j.k. was 2 months early and by then people were thinking we should be done. so was i to tell the truth....i never wanted to go thru that scary time of having a tiny baby again.....but God had other ideas....and he changed my heart....

barbara shea-- (shay) my first name is barbara, so is my mom's. so is her grandmother's. i wanted a little girl named barbara, but didn't want to actually call her that. i had also wanted a little girl named shea, but couldn't think of a good middle name for it.....so i finally thought to swap them and doesn't barbara shea sound wonderful??

patience noelle-- i had read a book with the main character named patience. i loved her character. it is also a name that is in my father's family tree many generations ago....so, i was happy to use it....she loves her name too.

right after patience was born i knew my family was still not complete. i had a late miscarriage and was pretty sad about that...but, i finally felt that i wasn't missing anyone, and that if we had more kids that would be fine, but that if we didn't, that was fine too, and that there would not be that empty hole and longing that so many women i knew had because they chose to limit their family size and regretted their decision later.....

i got pregnant again and was afraid to fall in love with that baby for fear of losing it too.....we passed the 13 weeks and i was finally at ease and allowed myself to fall in love with that baby only to lose it a few weeks later.....i was devastated and sooooo angry at God for tricking me like that, i thought he was soooo mean for letting me think all was ok, and then taking it anyway. he finally got thru to me that actually, he had given me the gift of extra time with that baby, that he had allowed me to love it, and that that was a gift.....i went thru testing and hormone therapy and fixed whatever was wrong, coz not much longer after that we had:

randi lynne--we named her after our pastor randy burke. he was an excellent teacher--a crappy pastor, a great teacher...he just did not have sheparding skills, but he was a good friend....the lynne is after me :o)

providence grace--when i was pregnant with providence, i was like "8 God???!!!" "8????" he said, "yes, my grace is sufficient for thee, i will provide" that went on for several weeks and finally i GOT it. hence the name providence grace. however, it was kevin's idea to name her providence. i was like "providence???!!! who names their kid providence??!! no one!!!" he was persistent, and i finally agreed, but we wouldn't call her that would we???!!! i had always wanted a baby gracie, so providence grace it was.....she was called grace for about 2 days. it just did not fit her....providence does....it is such a unique name, i have only heard of one other person named that, and that was just a recently born baby....i was sad to hear that though LOL providence really likes her name too....

somehow kevin decided that gaelic names would be great for the next ones so that was what they got....they also have an o in their middle name so that they are o crowley's....

siobhan maire-lynne 0--(shavon mayra-lynne) kevin came up with this one too, but remember the old soap opera ryan's hope? i loved the character siobhan! and the maire (not marie) lynne is for a dear friend marilynn waldemar......i love siobhan's name!

caoinlean cornelius o--(quinlan) my maiden name is quinsland, so this is sorta similar, and when i was in middle school there was a hot guy named quinn, and i always thought the name was cool too. as for the middle name, i got duped into promising kevin that we would use it for the next boy....of course, this was when i had randi and i actually thought that we would not be having another kid, let alone a boy LOL so, there we were with my promise, and my son, so as a woman that is true to her word---we now have caoinlean cornelius o crowley LOL but, WAY back in the day, the farthest we can go in the clan crowley geneology it was a cornelius that married an ellen back in county cork and then, their cornelius married another ellen, and they came to america....then, cornelius had jeremiah, who had leo, who had john, who had kevin who then had caoinlean :o) so, it is pretty cool afterall, and it is only the middle name....when he was born siobhan could not pronounce cornelius and called him canoreous, so now that is his nickname.....

tadhgain jeremiah o--(teagan) where kevin came up with this name is beyond me. but, it is cool....the jeremiah is for the jeremiah listed above....when my sister joan first went to ireland she found that it is supposed to be pronouced tig-een.....ew!!! it means little timothy. so, that is what kevin started calling him much to all of our horror....i didn't mind the "tig" (like in tiger) part, but the "een" part was not too cool...i do have to say, when said with the proper irish accent, it does sound pretty cool, but let me tell ya, we don't have the proper irish accent LOL so, teagan it is LOL or, we call him tig.....

so, that is how we say all the kids names.....then, the grand kids all got unusual names as well, for which i am glad. rhiannon's aracida, eireland, tristan, soon to be phoenix and then jenna's little silas boy....nice names :o)

i always wanted my kids to have names that were unique....and such a unique family we are :o)
